Metrowords
Metrowords 2007 takes place across the London Boroughs
of Harrow, Hammersmith
& Fulham, Hillingdon, Ealing,
Hounslow and Brent,
from 15th April until 31st May.
Metrowords (formerly Westwords) offers something for everyone,
encompassing talks, readings, workshops and shows in theatres,
libraries, schools and even pizza parlours.

Boroughs it will bring a feast of entertainment right to your
doorstep.... an eclectic mix of upcoming and
established authors as well as many opportunities for you to read or

Opening events - first week:
HOUNSLOW
Treasures of the Rainforest by Essequibo Music
Sun 15th April
3pm Watermans, 40 High Street, Brentford
Come and discover the charms of the Guyanese Rainforest through the
music of Keith Waithe’s flautist soundscapes and Sandra A. Agard’s
story, weaving tales of true South American wonder. Fly high above the
trees with Parrot, Woodpecker and the Birds of Paradise. Suitable for 3
– 6 year olds.
HARROW
Words Live 2007 Festival Launch
Mon 16th April
Elliott Hall, The Arts Centre, Uxbridge Road, Harrow
Featuring the launch of a collection of poetry by students from three
Harrow schools in the highly successful Write Lines
project, readings
from members of the Harrow Writers Workshop and a hilarious performance
from the Public Enema Comedy Sketch Show to be featured later in the
festival. Special guest MC Shortman.
Copies of I.D., The Write Lines anthology, will be available to buy.

Mike Carey
Mike Carey will be discussing his work, including the acclaimed
comics Lucifer and Hellblazer, and his recent series of
thrillers set in contemporary London. His third Felix Castor novel, Dead
Men's Boots, will be published in 2007. He has also written storylines
for X-Men, adapted Neil Gaiman's acclaimed Neverwhere into comics. His
original screenplay Frost Flowers is currently being filmed.

Shepherds Bush Writers’ Junction Masterclass – Performing Your
Work

Come and join Shepherd’s Bush Writers Junction for a masterclass on
reading and performing your work on stage. Led by acclaimed performance
poets and writers Dzifa Benson and Anjan Saha.
The Shepherds Bush Writers’ Junction meet every Tuesday at 6pm in the

The Reading Experience Database
Wednesday 25th April
2pm Yiewsley Library
Ranging from the early modern period to 1945, this database will provide
new insight into the reading experiences of both the famous and ordinary
reader. Dr Katie Halsey will talk on what the research has uncovered so
far and how you can get involved.
